Dear Long Branch Friends:

The Long Branch Lectures 2008 promises an outstanding roster of speakers. “The Making of History,” theme of the series since its inception in 1994, continues with two Virginia leaders of their generation, one on matters of the environment, the other, of the economy. A third lecturer is an acute observer and seasoned reporter of the international diplomatic and political scene. We hope you will plan now to brighten inevitable winter doldrums with stimulating, congenial Sunday evenings in the adjoining parlors of our 19th century architectural masterpiece.

The 2008 series opens Sunday, January 27. Skipping Super Bowl Mania, it continues Sunday, February 10, and concludes Sunday, February 17. Audiences are invited to arrive as early as 4:30 p.m. for presentations promptly at 5 p.m., and to stay for questions and a reception afterwards. At Long Branch, we look forward to welcoming those who have joined us since the 1990s as well as those who come for the first time.

These interesting evenings usually become conversations with the particularly well-informed. Please join us this year.

Cordially yours,

Mrs. Lilburn T. Talley
Chairman, The Long Branch Lectures 2008
