Paula J. Dobriansky served as Under Secretary of State for Global Affairs from 2001 until 2005, when she became Under Secretary of
State for Democracy and Global Affairs. Until the Inauguration that takes place just before her appearance here, she is responsible for a
broad range of foreign policy issues, including democracy, human rights, labor, refugee and humanitarian relief matters, and environmental/
science. In addition, she was designated Special Coordinator for Tibetan issues and, in February 2007, the President's Special Envoy on

Scott Shane covers national security issues for The New York Times from its Washington bureau. Mr. Shane returned home from Moscow,
where he was The Baltimore Sun's correspondent from 1988 to 1991, to write Dismantling Utopia: How Information Ended the Soviet
Union, was reviewed as "one of the essential works on the fall of the Soviet Union." His wide range of subjects for the Times has included
the mental health problems of Iraq veterans, the nature of the terrorist threat, the reorganization of intelligence agencies, the government's
secret effort to reclassify historical documents, the explosion in federal contracting and the debate over torture. He will speak on torture,
bringing to it an historical perspective from the Cold War to the present.Sign Up Form

C. Boyden Gray took up the post of Ambassador to the European Union in 2006, when President George W. Bush granted him a recess
appointment to the post. He was appointed Special Envoy for European Affairs by Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice in 2008, and, later
that year, Special Envoy for Eurasian Energy, both at the nation's Mission to the European Union. The Ambassador served as White House
Counsel to President George H. W. Bush from 1989 to 1993. He became one of the main architects of the 1990 Clean Air Act amendments
that suggested market solutions for environmental problems. He will speak on the European Union from an insider's viewpoint.Sign Up Form

Sumpter Priddy, III, Inc., has gained widespread recognition for its antique inventory of outstanding quality and for groundbreaking
scholarship in American decorative arts. Mr. Priddy served six years as curator for the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation. At Long
Branch, he will be giving a walk through lecture on our collection. Long Branch will also ask local collectors to display some of their antiques

- Easter Egg Hunt & Clarke County Day – April 11th
Long Branch Historic House and Farm near Millwood will host its annual Easter Egg Hunt and Clarke County Day, beginning at 1 p.m. April 11. Mr. and Mrs. Easter Bunny and Little Miss Clarke County Angel Crider will welcome visitors. The activities will include hayrides, kite displays, face-painting, and a 4-H petting zoo. Boy Scout Troop 11 will help to set up and supervise the 2 p.m. hunt, which is for children 10 and younger. Everyone should bring baskets.
Mansion tours and tea parties will be offered for a fee, and the Shenandoah Carriage Co. will provide rides in its Cinderella carriage for $2 per person on a first-come, first-served basis. Concessions will include Coffee and Cream and Mr. B’s BBQ.
